Bronze Training Trip 2007
Training has now been completed for over 60 3rd year pupils. After a series of school based activities including First Aid, use of stoves, mapwork, route cards, setting up tents and correct packing of a rucksack, they have all completed a 2 day expedition covering 24k of hill and moorland in the area around Loch Ordie. The pupils showed real determination, good navigation skills, and a keen sense of humour as they encountered cold, wet and windy weather mixed with bursts of sunshine.
Navigation skills were tested to the full in a route which forced them to concentrate and take some difficult decisions.
Rain stops were a constant feature as wet weather gear was needed as cloudbursts hit the group.
Streams were crossed.
And as the journey neared its end this group showed their sense of fun by donning warpaint in celebration.
As they crossed the finishing line they had even managed to convince their leaders to wear the team colours too!
