Riding the waves and lovin' it!
It's the end of day three on the annual sail and surf trip and we're catching a moment to update you on our adventures while the rain batters down outside! We arrived on Sunday night in glorious sunshine after a lovely drive and calm ferry crossing. Our first night was spent exploring our new home for the week and getting kitted out. A serious game of ultimate frisbee rounded off the night. I would like to say my team won but that would be a lie! Must work on my throwing and catching.
On Monday morning we split into two groups: sailors and windsurfers. As most of us were beginners there was a lot of learning to do! Which was just as well as on Tuesday the wind got up - yippee!
A sadly diminished windsurfing group spent most of the day being rescued due to our inability to steer, while the sailing group watched and laughed! But pretty soon they were capsizing too, so the day ended wet but happy!
By day three (that's today) we were all beginning to get the hang of it! The surfers were whizzing about the bay, while the sailors were managing some pretty impressive manoeuvres. The strong wind kept up which was great, but at least we had some sun today.
By the end of the week, we should have done enough for most of the group, even Dave, to get RYA certification. And we might even make it across to Largs!
