Edinburgh Book Festival 2010
A series of misfortunes on the S2/S3 visit to the Edinburgh Books Festival!
Our annual visit to this year's Book Festival unfortuately did not go completely as planned. The weather let us down as it was damp and dreich - not the usual wall to wall sunshine and then we waited, waited and waited for our bus to appear to no avail..... After numerous attempts to contact the bus company we discovered that they had booked the wrong day!!!Eventually the replacement bus arrived and we sped to Edinburgh in time to meet our author John Boyne of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas fame in the author tent where he posed for photos, answered questions and signed autographs.
The weather had settled in to rain, rain and more rain but our spirits were not dampened as eager eyed pupils spotted author celebrities - Keith Gray, Patrick Ness, Catherine MacPhail, Julia Golding and Steve Barlow! Also, the bookshops, cafeteria and ice cream van were all undercover so we did not starve.
The atmosphere was great as always and the added bonus was that everyone will get a refund on their tickets for the missed talk!
