S3 Trip to Dunkeld and The Hermitage
On 31 May and 1 June, S3 Geography pupils visited Dunkeld and the Hermitage, to study land use and tourism in Dunkeld, and river features and the role of the National Trust at The Hermitage.
Pupils gained experience of fieldwork techniques, including field-sketching, questionnaire surveys, land use and environmental quality surveys, and traffic counts. A National Trust ranger gave an interesting talk about her work, and showed us skins of squirrels, a pine marten, a bat and a fox, to demonstrate the range of wildlife that can be found in the woodland at the Hermitage.
