PHS Parent Council
As part of our efforts to improve communication between home and school we have added the work of the parent council to our website.
Why does the Parent Council exist?
We exist because the Scottish Government believes that parents are important and can make a real difference to children’s learning.
With this in mind the Objectives of the Perth High School Parent Council are:
To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents.
To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils.
To identify and represent the views of parents and the wider school community on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.
When parents are involved young people do better and achieve more. The Parent Council hopes to achieve this by working together with everyone involved in school life, parents, children, teachers, school staff and the wider community to support the school.
Who is involved?
At the moment we have 10 parent members of the Council. 2 parents are also members of the Parent councils of 2 of our link primaries. We have 2 pupil members and our Head Teacher attends or is represented by a member of the SMT. Mrs Catriona Laing is the staff member on the Parent Council.
We usually also have 1 Perth and Kinross councillor in attendance at meetings.
What do we do?
The best way to find out what we do is to read the minutes of our meetings which are also posted here on the school website.
Where and When?
The Parent council meets twice a term usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening at 7pm in the staff room. Check the school calendar for meeting dates.
Want to join us?
All Parent Council meetings are open to all members of the Parent Forum so all parents or carers of pupils at Perth High are welcome to come along. If you would like to become a member of the Parent Council we often have vacancies. Just contact the Head Teacher or the Chairperson of the Parent Council to let them know you are interested.
Want more information?
If you wish to raise any matter for discussion at the Perth High School Parent Council get in touch with our chairperson Mr Brian Frame at bframe@hotmail.co.uk
The Parentzone website is also a useful source of advice to help parents become more involved with their child’s education. Click the link below to go directly there.
