Mr Lapsley's Retiral Dinner

By LT on 30/5/2003

Perth High Senior Depute Headteacher, Robin Lapsley, accompanied by his wife and surrounded by well-wishing colleagues was guest of honour at his retiral dinner, held at the Huntingtower Hotel recently.

Mr Lapsley, a former journalist and History Graduate, came to Perth High in 1990 as Depute but also served as Headteacher for a year, between the secondment of Mr Kiddie to the Education Services Dept. and the appointment of present Headteacher, Mr Jim Scott, who toasted him on behalf of the staff and gave a warm appreciation of the man as both colleague and friend.

Mr Lapsley, renowned for his ready wit, was as entertaining as expected in his retiral speech, and, though looking forward to the welcome relief from the full time pressures of administering the largest school in the region, is reluctant to sever all ties with the teaching profession and his colleagues. Like a number of other recent "retirees" he is intending to occasionally return to the chalkface in the guise of a supply teacher.

However, his first priority is to enjoy the break, plan a holiday to Alaska and spend some quality time with his family!
