Christmas Concert 2010
Sincere thank you to all the staff, both past and present, who came to St. Ninian's Cathedral last night to support the pupils during their Christmas concert. It was, as ever, a great success.
To start, the Boys Choir premiered their Latin abilities followed by the Brass Band who jazzed things up with the Chicago classic “All That Jazz”. Another new addition to the concert was the Glee Club who put a new modern spin on the old favourite “Don’t Stop Believing”.
The Wind Band brought a touch of class with “Christmas on Broadway” and talented soloist Beth Malcolm from S2 sang “Ave Maria”. The S3 NQ Pupils with solo vocalist Anna Gordon showed their hidden talents followed by the traditional Christmas Concert favourite - the Choir accompanied by the Sign Club.
The Swing Band directed by pupil Helena Kay provided a selection of toe tapping tunes and the Ceilidh Band performed an outstanding set of traditional songs. The String Orchestra provided a Handel classic and saxophone soloist Helena Kay wowed with her rendition of “Stella by Starlight”.
We were then treated to the usual rounding up of the night by the orchestra who warmed the whole cathedral with “Soaring through Ionian Skies” and “In Bleak Mid Winter”.
Thank you to all the musicians and conductors for providing a wonderful festive evening.
