Dales and Lakes Trip

On 22-23 September, 10 intrepid Geographers (and their teachers!) made their way down to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Our first visit was to White Scar Caves to see underground features of limestone scenery, including stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone. Formations had weird and wonderful names, like ‘The Witch’s Fingers’ and the ‘Devil’s Tongue’!

We then went to see impressive Malham Cove and the stunning limestone pavement above. Several ‘Wow’s were exclaimed at Gordale Scar, and everyone survived the Norber Erratics! We visited Bowness-on Windermere in the Lake District National Park, and spoke to lots of tourists about where they were from, and what they liked about the Lake District.

After a quick stop for some fieldsketching at Thirlmere, it was time to head north. We were all relieved to arrive home safely in Perth after an eventful journey back!
