Kids' Lit Quiz 2012
Mrs Burns and Miss Murray from the library, along with Mrs Higgins, accompanied our team to this year’s Kids' Lit Quiz regional heats at Kilsyth Academy this week.
In the hot seat on the day were Chris Mellor-Jones, Kirsty McKell, Shona Rae and Helena Brown, with reserve team-mates Katie Fairbairn and Cameron Snowden waiting in the wings with moral support and attempting to telepathically send our team the right answers. Not that it was needed. Our fantastic four did brilliantly, coming second out of a whopping 36 teams!They even beat a team of librarians who had joined in on the contest. The themed rounds covered everything from rabbits to snakes, teenagers to Shakespeare, wings to numbers, and was a true test of everyone’s knowledge. Our team played their joker early, choosing Mythical Beasts as their area of expertise, and it gave them an early lead which they managed to maintain throughout the entire, 3 hour competition.
So well done, Chris, Kirsty, Shona and Helena. It’s a great achievement and we’re very proud of you.
And well done to Katie and Cameron too, for being so supportive and playing along behind the scenes. The day was a lot of fun, and our prize was the icing on the cake.
