I recently bought a new chemisrty standard grade book from waterstones that is really good for learning about stuff that we have not done in class eg. what is a saturated hydrocarbon Very Happy

Glad to hear it Isla, just make sure you use it and that it doesn't gather dust somewhere!

A saturated hydrocarbon is on without any double bonds
--> alkanes and cycloalkanes

An unsaturated hydrocarbon does have a double bond --> alkenes


Homologous series means a group of molecules with similar structures and reactions. So the alkanes, alkenes and cycloalkanes are all examples of homologous series.
