Mathematiques Sans Frontieres

By eramage | Monday 17th Mar 2008 13:12

On Thursday 13th March 21 students from the top maths sets volunteered to represent Perth High in this worldwide competition run jointly by North Lanarkshire Council, Heriot Watt University and L’Academie De Strasbourg.

Part of the paper was written in French, German and Spanish. This had to be translated first, the maths worked out and then the solution had to be written in the foreign language.

The pupils worked on the 10 problems in small groups, when they found a solution they wrote it up and this was checked by some of the others.
If they are amongst the top 10 schools they will be invited to the prize giving in June at Heriot Watt University so watch this space!

They all worked very well together and were quick to build on the strengths of others in the room if they knew they had a particular skill. The following students are all to be congratulated on their efforts:-
