Cultural Coffee Mornings!
The coffee mornings, which were a big success, were for the Modern Languages department to fund the education of an African child living in a francophone country.
The amount raised was £105 – very near the target of £128, which will allow us to sponsor this child’s education, through the Scottish charity SCIAF, for three years. The HE higher pupils, under the direction of Mrs Dinning and Mrs Berry, produced some delicious and authentic cakes from Spain and Germany – the apple strudel and the churros were particularly well received!
We had a host of willing pupils in S2 to assist at the French, German, Spanish and Mandarin coffee mornings, and we were pleased at the efforts they made to speak in the target language. We were even entertained by a group of pupils in the Mandarin café to a song and dance in Chinese!
Some of our senior pupils entertained us with some live guitar and violin playing and everyone involved seemed to have a thoroughly good time!
